About Pesso Eco Anti Bait
Urban ants are among the most important household pests in Malaysia. Some species of ants are of medical importance as their bites and stings can cause pustules and blisters to develop.
Perhaps, more irritating than any other is the fact that ants often play the uninvited “guests” and help themselves with our food at will. They can cause food contamination, allergies, entomofobia and as well as act as mechanical vectors for various pathogenic diseases.
Different ant species have different food preference. Some species of ants prefer sugar-based food, while others like protein-based food and oil-based food. Around 10,000 species of ants have thus far been identified.
Ants are social insects and live in communities we term as colonies. They communicate chemically through pheromones. Understanding the behaviour of ants and the colony system they operate in is vital in combatting these very efficient and highly coordinated pests.
Worker ants are the ones foraging for food and water. Liquid food and water will be ingested by the workers, while solid food is carried back to the nest. Only larvae are capable of digesting solid food. After the food has been digested, the food in its liquid form will be transferred back to the worker ants and then distributed throughout the colony.
The process of food exchange is also known as trophallaxis. This behavior is very important because it can be exploited in ant control through baiting, which is exactly how Pesso Eco Ant Bait works
